Jurassic Park Owie Packs
When I was a child, my mother called ice packs "Owie packs." My sons aren't so much into the "owie" aspect of it all. However, when they happen to trip over their own feet, or walk into a doorknob (that's happened more times than I can count), fallen down the stairs, rolled down a hill and smacked into a tree at the bottom....they know to head to the fridge for the "owie pack."
Jurassic Park. Dinosaurs. I don't know a single child who is not fascinated by dinosaurs. I remember watching Jurassic Park when I was 6. I was obsessed. For the record, Malcom was RIGHT!
I found this fabric and swooned. It reminded me of my sons, and my nephews, and my love for dinosaurs as a child. The dinosaur lover in your life needs these "Owie packs." And they are the perfect size to be held by little hands, or one in each big hand.
The beauty of the "Owie pack" isn't only that the fabric is cool, but you can use these hot OR cold.
To heat, simply place in the microwave for 30 second intervals until the desired heat is reached. DO NOT wrap in a towel to heat. This will create a steaming effect and could cause the rice to sweat. Be sure to allow the pack to completely cool to room temp before storing.
To use as an ice pack, simply place in the freezer and leave it there. When it's needed, simply hand it to your man cub (or she cub), they can apply to the affected area, and relax. Unlike other ice packs, you don't have to wrap in a towel to keep the cold directly off the skin. The cotton fabric allows the affected area to be "iced" without the messy condensation of a regular ice pack, and it will also prevent the burning sensation often felt while using a common ice pack.
Spot clean ONLY.
